Project Portfolio
A project portfolio is a digital portfolio where you can showcase your technical skillsets to the World. It’s a medium by which you can display your skills and prowess to your potential recruiters, hiring managers, clients, etc. In the the digital age, it’s almost indispensable for professionals to have a portfolio website to stand out among the competition.
Having a project portfolio link in your resume will increase your chances of getting shortlisted for interviews. In fact, hiring managers would prefer a candidate having a good project portfolio than someone who has multiple certifications in data tools.
How to build a data analytics project portfolio?
To begin with, I request you to go through my articles on building SQL and Power BI project portfolios.
Similarly, you may build a project portfolio for Excel and Python/R projects and create Github repositories for each.
Now that you have created an individual tool-level portfolio, the next step is to compile everything in a single location. For most beginners, it’s a challenge to create a portfolio website. Hence, I have a simple trick for you.
Linktr.ee
There’s a tool called Linktree, which will help you create a customized one-page website where you can add links to your individual project portfolios as buttons. You can simply add each tool’s portfolio link to the buttons on this page. Please refer to my portfolio link here as a sample.
The best part is that it is free to use while its premium version will provide access to additional features like tracking the number of visitors. You can also customize the URL, theme, color, and fonts of the webpage in the free version itself.
This single link will help you to compile all your portfolios and act as your master portfolio. You can share this link in your resume and with other people to whom you want to showcase your work. You may even add it to your LinkedIn profile.
Key Considerations
Make sure that you show at least an intermediate level of competency in each tool through your portfolio to make it stand out among others.
Having a portfolio link in your resume will be a game-changer for job seekers to stand out among the competition in a tight job market. So, I’d highly recommend every data aspirant to have a good project portfolio that showcases their skillsets!
