Do you get dejected every time after failing to clear an interview during your job search?

Here’s a slight change in mindset that will help you feel more confident while attending interviews.

Imagine you are a salesperson selling a high-value product to your prospective customer.

You have 30 leads and finally, after two weeks of conversations, 3 customers agree to buy your product. It is a 10% conversion rate.

What does this mean?

Around 10% of the customer’s needs (among the leads) and the value provided by your product matched and this converted to a sales transaction. The remaining 90% of leads’ needs and your product’s offerings didn’t match.

At the end of the day, the salesperson is happy as he was able to bring in a considerable chunk of revenue to his company through these 3 customers.

Now, replace the customer with a prospective employer, yourself as the salesperson, and your skillsets + credentials as the product in the above scenario.

The employer will have certain needs and you will have certain skillsets and salary requirements.

If most needs of the employer match your skills + salary expectations, then you will clear the interview and get yourself an offer.

Also, if you can provide a very good sales pitch for your skill sets (using your credentials), then you will be able to clear more interviews and get multiple offers.

Thus, think of an interview as a sales pitch, and I’m sure you would feel more confident in the interview and feel less anxious, even if you fail to clear it.
